your lucky numbers are 20, 35, 14, 45, 39, and 19

happy valentine's day to you all! <3 i've never really understood why people hate valentine's day so much, but if you're one of those people, happy chinese new year! (especially to any of you who are tigers. ;))
my fortune said, "many admire your social and physical appearance." haha? and i picked up some deep conditioner, this weather's made my hair super-dry. expect a review soon! and i also grabbed some pocky. yay! :)
i wore this to go out to lunch. we went to this chinese place we've been going to forever, it's sooo good. the lady who owns the place gave me some money in a little red envelope for luck, to say thanks for coming so much, ahaha. ;) (she also gave each of us a lollipop.) very sweet, no?
dress (worn as skirt), target; tank top, gap; cardigan, target; necklace, italy!; tights, ???
i tried to make things more interesting for you guys, but you can see how well that worked...
heh heh heh.
if i could, i would give you all a slice of this cake (cos your all so amazing and deserve some valentine's day love!):

edit: this was supposed to post yesterday, but for some reason it didn't? oh well...

2/3/10

they don't love you like i love you

no classes today, as we got hit with mounds of snow. :) a very productive day off, if i do say so myself. (after getting an extra 3 hours of sleep and eating pancakes. cos what are snow days for, anyway?)
just threw this on, because it makes me feel (slightly) more presentable than pyjamas.
jacket, old navy; top and "jeggings," target; boots, totes.
also, i got the teen vogue handbook the other week, and have finally gotten to paging through it properly. i would definitely recommend it as a must-read to anyone interested in a career in fashion. (i pretty much bought it for the photography section.) i felt like the big, overwhelming lesson was that you don't need to go to a design/art/fashion school, but the willingness to be an assistant/intern really helps. however, there is a handy little section in the back with a mini-overview of a lot of the aforementioned not-totally-necesary design/art/fashion schools, which i thought was very nice of them.
and finally, i had some fun with some lipstick i got from ulta. ;) (i think i made the bottom lip too wide, though. sadface.) and if you've never smeared your lips with concealer, it's a very creepy experience, to say the least. psst. it makes you look like a zombie.
hahaha! hope you all had as much fun as i did today...
xoxo

a wintry tea party

you're all invited!
are you coming?
*slurp*
white dress, forever 21; black (under)dress, target; tights, ???; sweater (underneath), target; hiking boots, stolen from friend (and a lovely 5 1/2 sizes too big); black boots, totes.
as you can probably tell, i'm on a bit of a photo kick, and i have to say, i rather like it. :) and surprisingly, i wasn't actually that cold when i took these. (or maybe i was just delirious...) oh! and about halfway through, i found out we own a tripod. a pretty decent one, too. i was so excited, you should've seen my happy-dance. (...or maybe not. i like the number of readers i have now.)
you can see more on flickr!

inside we're all the same

may i present an outfit post, for your viewing pleasure: (haven't had one of these in a while, hmm?)
not too interesting, but i liked it, plus it was still light out enough to take pictures when i got home.
(yes, i had fun editing the hell out of them too. ;))

helen: everyone's special, dash.
dash: ...which is another way of saying no one is.

here you can see my dog... he's a cutie, but not too fond of paparazzi. ;)
top: peeps store, blazer: thrifted, "jeggings": target, flats: thrifted

i'd just like to say two things. one, this may be the comfiest outfit of all time. (according to my mac, "jeggings" isn't a word. who decided that?!) and two, did you know they actually have stores where they sell nothing but millions of little marshmallow peeps? fortunately, they also sell t-shirts, which is where i got this little beauty. (it says "inside we're all the same.")

cheesecake: the dessert of supermodels

dress: h&m, tights: payless, shoes: thrifted
could this *gasp* be an outfit post?? well, maybe, if you accept badly lit pictures* of what i wore on n.y.e. i didn't do much, just hung out with some friends. no going out for me. of course, i decided to dress up anyway. ;) but what could those things on my head be??

mouse ears: disney world ;)
mouse ears, of course! inspired by gala darling. (and what would new year's be without a few sequins?)
i know i'm behind (5 days, in fact), but what did you guys wear? something sparkly, i hope!
*but really, sorry for all the shadows. none of my pictures turned out the way i wanted, so i'll leave you with this one even though you can't see my cool houndstooth tights... just pretend it's supposed to be a silhouette shot. much better now, no?
and don't forget to keep asking questions for my q&a post!

as the music dies, something in your eyes calls to mind a silver screen and all those sad goodbyes...

i am insanely grateful for fall break. and black friday sales. ;) if you weren't out at 4 am, let me tell you, it was absolute craziness... (p.s. watching people fight over a toaster totally made my week. ;)) but anyway, let me introduce you to the new love of my life:

the reason i took so long to post is i had some internet issues, and i couldn't take pictures. i wanted to take these by these woods near my house, but it's been raining all week. so you get crappy indoor pics. sorry. :(
remember when i gushed about it here? well, i found it at old navy, from $69.50 to $29.99. yesssss. :) i never want to take it off, and am telling everyone around me how how much i love it. oh well. there are worse things i could be doing...aaaaand the outfit underneath:

not terribly interesting, i know. v-neck, thifted; skirt, marshall's; tights, ???; necklace, made by me
also, i've been thinking, and i'd like to make a tumblr where i can dump all my favorite pictures (instead of randomly posting them here). when i started this blog, i always thought, "oh, i blog for myself. not for any readers, and not just to get comments," but i feel a little more obligation to post quality stuff now that i know people are following me? my tumblr would definitely be more like a random inspiration thing, and not as much rambling... as of now i'm just trying to decide on a good name.

finally, i've been thinking about getting bangs again? either that or coloring my hair a bit reddish/orangish... any thoughts?

hope ally my lovely readers had a yummy (late) thanksgiving... xoxo

le jeudi

i decided to do my own t.i.l.t. this week, so here we go...

this week, i love are wearing stacks of bracelets on each arm, learning french, guys who do sweet things for you (apology brownies anyone?), rose print everything, mylifeisaverage.com, getting my passport renewed (!), wearing running spandex around the house since they're even warmer and comfier than leggings (if that's possible), the song "somebody told me" by the killers, to write love on her arms day, having cool criss-cross shoelaces (thanks to my friend with crazy skillz), lady gaga's amazing music videos, finally discovering who tim walker is (but he deserves his own post), going to the local playground for a photoshoot with my bestie and getting strange looks from the parents of toddlers, paper plate awards, super-delicious pizza, and having curly hair again.

altogether, it's been a good week. :) what's been making you all happy?

11/3/09

roaring 20's

happy halloween!! i know i'm way late, i've been a bit sick so no posting for me... :( i still dressed up anyway. priorities, you know! i was a flapper...

dress: h&m, pearls: dress-up box, shoes: thirfted, unfortunately, i seem to have lost my boa... :(
oh. my. god. ok, so i finally get around to putting my costume back on, only to find i've lost my boa. and my camera. so my iphone pics aren't that great, and you can barely see my costume. bleh. i'm sorry, guys. once i find everything, i promise i'll take better pictures...

i never understood why people stopped dressing up after they stopped going trick-or-treating... i would never give up the excuse to dress up as someone else.

but since i was sick, i stayed on the couch watching scary movies and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. i have come to the conclusion that i think the corpse bride is one of the most beautiful movies i've ever seen... tim burton is a genius.

i love emily... and her name is just fabulous. ;)

so, what did you all dress up as? anything exciting happen while i stayed in?

10/25/09

"if my calaculations are correct, slinky + escalator = everlasting fun"

my mum bought these over-the-knee boots the other day (from target, i think?), so, of course, i had to "borrow" them for a little while... ;)

top: h&;m
shorts: levi's
boots: target??
anyway, yesterday we went to this thrift/vintage store that i've never been to before. it's huuuuuge. (and i know my local thrift store is rather small as it's run by the church across the street, but still...) i scored two skirts, one from h&;m and one from old navy, a floor-length velvet dress in the prettiest burgundy color, a floral-print cardigan thing with crazy shoulder pads, a pair of rocketdog ballet flats, and 2 pairs of keds.

this is the only semi-halfway decent pic i got of what i bought, all the other pictures turned out terrible cos of the bad lighting... they didn't look all that great on the hangers anyway. :/ i'll show you what they look like when i wear them in an outfit.
the cardigan-thingie is actually from the vintage section, and my mom swears it's the ugliest thing she's ever laid eyes on... which makes me love it so much more. <3 i'm planning emergency surgery on it and the floor-length dress, to make them a little more wearable than they are now, if you get what i mean...

the flats also have this funky criss-cross thing going on (like ballerina shoes!), so it took me a few tries to figure out how to put them on, heh heh heh. i've never thrifted shoes before, but i'm rather pleased with the pairs i got. there was also this amazing pair of spectator shoes, but they were a bit pointy for my taste so i didn't get them. no regret... yet.

altogether a good use of a rainy saturday, i'd say. :)

tights binge

 teal tights=love

in an effort to make outfit pictures more interesting... may i present jump shots! well, balancing-on-one-leg-while-wearing-heels shots, just as difficult and should therefore receive the same applause.

yes, i think we all agree balancing on one foot in heels is hard.

aaaaand the obligatory close-ups.

 tank top: target
skirt: marshall's
tights: lord and taylor
cardigan: thrifted (originally american eagle)
necklace: made by me
shoes: square 12, originally "bronze" dyed black by me

for some reason i felt very gossip-girl-esque in this. it's not even really that preppy, either... and i think having teal legs may have been one of my subconscious life goals (you mean you don't have those? ;)). i just felt so accomplished when i wore them. and speaking of tights, i went on a tights buying spree, which resulted in these, some really pretty black sheers from lord and taylor (thank you, fritha louise, for proving once and for all sheer tights are for daytime too), and then a whole bunch from payless.

from the left to right, argyle, houndstooth, and plain black. i bought plum ones, too. unfortunately, they had a hole when i took them out of the package. which, when i decided to wear them anyway (never said i was good at judgement calls), expanded into a giant gash on my thigh. :(

oh, and i know i haven't posted in a while. but i'm going to skip the whole "i'm such a bad blogger" thing (even though it's true) cos i hate it when other bloggers apologize for having lives. (and i'm not saying that bloggers don't have lives! i just meant that sometimes it's more important/crazy/fun/interesting to be in the "real world" instead of in front of a computer screen...) anyway, last week at our school was homecoming, so lots of school spirit, dancing, dressing up, ect! very fun. :) pictures will be posted at a later date, i promise. *this is where you roll your eyes and say "suuure you will" in a sarcastic voice*

and i forgot to include this in the fashion week post, but i loved the entire viktor and rolf collection. it was totally insane.

i thought it was funny how their theme was "cutting back," and instead of going the recession-friendly route, they took it in a more literal way...  :)

and i just collaged my notebooks (using my copiousspare time while i avoid blogging) (just kidding!!) which turned out better than i expected them to. here's a teaser, as i'm rather pleased with them and you can expect more pics soon!

i have a 3-day weekend so i'm especially happy..... :D hope all your weekends are lovely too!

9/20/09

school, sports, homework, sleep, rinse and repeat...

i miss blogging so much... ugh, i hate being busy! school is seriously eating into my blogging time. :( my teachers are against students having social lives, i think... either that, or  i just suck at time management. (speaking of which, my dad sent me this youtube video on time management, and yesterday when he asked if i watched it yet i said no. when he asked why, i said because it's over an hour long! how ironic...)

here's what i wore today. yes, today. not yesterday. not last week.really, actually, today. i'm quite proud of myself. :)

i had the idea for this outfit in my head pretty much since i bought the sweater.

this picture shows the color of my sweater best. i used to avoid orange a lot because i thought it was super-unflattering, but now i think the burnt orange looks good with my hair color, if i do say so myself. ;)

sweater: marshalls, skirt: target, i think..., tights: ???, shoes: childhood closet (seriously. i've had these forever.)

also, i have the occasion to get more-than-usual dressed up for a thing in two weeks (ooh, suspense!), and i have my heart set on a one-shouldered dress. if anyone know where i can get a cute one for not-too-expensive (preferably under $100-$150), please let me know... i'd love you forever! ;)

taylor swift in her fabulous dress...

p.s. i updated my blogger account thingie, and everything works so much better now! i didn't know i could update, so if you haven't yet, be sure to do it. :) look! i can do strikeout! hee hee hee...

p.p.s. i just had an idea! i think i'll write posts on saturday/sunday (when i actually have the time) and schedule them to post during the week. so it's like i'm actually posting regularly again! genius, right?

p.p.p.s. (yes, i know this is getting kind of ridiculous.) can you guys see my sidebar? i've been messing around with the html and sometimes it just randomly goes away, even if i don't change it. verrrrry strange... and i'm updating my blogroll hopefully sometime this weekend! in case you were interersted...
