what's up, doc?

doc martens: the ugg boots of the fashion world? really, think about it. to fashion bloggers everywhere, uggs are the ultimate sin against individual style. people who do wear uggs defend them saying, "i know they're not the cutest, but they're soooo comfy and warm!" bloggers who wear docs say they're huge and clunky, but super-comfortable. am i the only one sensing a pattern here??

now, for the longest time, i thought doc martens were some of the ugliest shoes to ever roam the earth. but now there are more colors/designs than ever, and i think my resolve might be weakening...

the forever 21 knock-off ($24.80),

and the doc marten being knocked-off ($115).

(i have to say, i kinda like the f21 ones better... and not just because of the price!)
plus there are other pretty colors to choose from...

they even come in cool designs! (the pictures are links, btw.)

i'm not sure if i'd wear them or not... does anyone actually own a pair of docs? could you vouch for them? how do you wear them? i guess if i did have a pair, this is how i'd wear 'em:

a frilly dress, pastel colors, ect... probably a girlier dress than this, but i really love this one. too bad it's $2,588...

(you can read more about them here, like a history, ect., but it's written by gala darling, so you know it's good...)

I used to find doc martens extremely ugly as well but then when they started making more girly designs it was kind of like a cross between minds like "oh okay I can wear a combat boot but have it still be feminine in this paisly print" ya know. I love them now, and I can't wait to get a pair in the fall.

I plan on getting a pair as soon as I get my paycheck for the summer camp I just worked. Mine will be black though, since for me, black really is me, not just classic or versatile.

Ha-ha, I definitely see the similarity. I'm drawn to them too--ever since I saw "Brothers Bloom."

about to cry here, there is no f21 here in sydney, seeing as everyone seems to love it and get good stuff from it!! haha, oh well... but yeh, gotta love those docs...

lol, despite being aussies, we're not fans of ugg boots worn outside of houses.

I was so lucky to find a perfect pair of docs at the thrift store and my sister also found a pair of doc snakeskin print ;)

I have to say, even though it isn't a popular opinion, I think both docs and uggs are pretty classic. There are terrible looks that can be created with them, but I don't hate either in and of themselves.

I love docs, but I feel like I could never look as cool as they deserve to be!

Oh, this reminds me a lot of the lady from Cocorosa. It gives such a girly and edgy and funky Daria twist. Love it.

I can't make up my mind about them. They are cute but I'm very small so I like shoes that add atleast 3 inches to my height.
